When Anaheim City Council candidate Steve Chavez Lodge told a television reporter last month that he had only received the maximum allowable $1,800 campaign contribution from the Disneyland Resort — perhaps the city’s most influential political player — the comment was accurate.

But it wasn’t the whole truth.

“Trips to Disney’s Anaheim parks hit an all-time high for the spring and early summer season, just as the transformation of Disney California Adventure was being unveiled,” according to an article published by the O.C. Register on August 8, 2012.

“Disney essentially bet the farm with Cars Land as the land, with its incredibly detailed Ornament Valley Mountain Range and E-Ticket attraction, Radiator Springs Racers, was rumored to cost nearly $1 billion by itself, or nearly as much as the entire Disney California Adventure park when it first opened in 2001,” according to the Huffington Post.

Disneyland machinist critically injured at Space Mountain ride

“A machinist for Disneyland was critically hurt earlier this month in an accident at the theme park’s Space Mountain ride,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

According to the L.A. Times:

Details of the incident were still unclear.

Suzi Brown of the Disneyland Resort said the ride did not malfunction and that “it was cleared for normal operation.”

Despite denials, Disneyland does have brass surfaces that tested high in lead

A year ago we found out that “Dozens of leaded-glass windows and brass rail chains, door knobs and drinking water fountains at some of Disneyland’s most popular attractions expose children to high levels of lead, according to an environmental group seeking a court injunction Tuesday to require the amusement park to cover the items or post health warnings,” according to the L.A. Times.

The Mateel Environmental Justice Foundation filed the lawsuit against Disney.  You can read their full report here.  It is pretty shocking.
