Disney cast member accused of setting off dry ice bombs pleads not guilty

Disney cast member Christian Barnes

Christian Barnes, 22, the Disneyland employee accused of setting off two dry ice explosions at the theme park pleaded not guilty on Thursday.

He was charged with a felony count of possession of a destructive device in a public place, according to KTLA News.

While we original reported that he set off one dry ice bomb, authorities revealed on Thursday that he allegedly had two water bottles containing dry ice.

Prosecutors said that “The first bottle exploded in his vending cart, and a second bottle tossed into a trash can went off several minutes later.”

Barnes’ bail was reduced to $500,000, down from $1 million. His next court appearance will be on June 7.  Barnes may get six years in jail if he loses this case.

It seems like this was a stupid prank.  Why such a high bail and why are authorities throwing the book at Barnes?
