OCDA SEEKS PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING FEMALE RELATIVE

WESTMINSTER – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) is seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a man charged with sexually assaulting a female relative. Bryan William Anast, 45, Corona, is charged with four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for forcible sex crimes. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 63 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. The People will request the defendant be held on $1 million bail at his arraignment today, June 24, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in Department W-1, West Justice Center, Westminster.

Between Nov. 2, 1997, and Nov. 1, 2000, Anast is accused of sexually assaulting his 11-year-old female relative Jane Doe by forcibly digitally penetrating the victim on at least four different occasions in three different locations including Yosemite, Garden Grove, and Stanton.

In May 2013, Jane Doe contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) to report the sexual assaults. Anast was arrested at Disneyland, where he worked as a machinist fixing rides.

On June 20, 2013, during a subsequent investigation at Anast’s home, OCSD investigators found several videos of child pornography on a computer data storage device that belonged to the defendant.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information or who believes they have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Paul Carvo at (714) 347-8794.

Anast’s mandatory lifetime sex offender registration will bar him from entering County recreational areas and City parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance. Deputy District Attorney Bobby Taghavi of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.
