Angels partner for ACT initiative in Anaheim

ANAHEIM — The Angels have teamed up with the Anaheim Ducks and the Disneyland Resort as founding members in the Accelerate Change Together for Anaheim initiative, a new, collaborative program that helps to address gaps in services for the city’s underserved youth.

Earlier this year, the Disneyland Resort funded the Anaheim Youth Services Assessment, which highlighted areas of need for residents of Anaheim — California’s 10th largest city — ages 5 to 18. That prompted the Disneyland Resort to develop ACT Anaheim, where the three organizations have committed $3 million over three years in funding for a multi-year grant program.

Walt Disney’s daughter, Diane, has passed away

Diane Disney Miller, Walt Disney’s daughter and one of his inspirations for building the Disneyland theme park, has died at her Northern California home. She was 79, according to the Washington Post.

Disney Miller was the eldest daughter to Walt and Lillian and she was also their only full blood child. She was born on December 18th 1933 and is still alive to this day. She grew up and married a man by the name of Ronald William Miller. Diane and Ronald had 7 children, according to the Disney Characters.

Her death Tuesday was confirmed by The Walt Disney Co. The cause was complications from a fall, said Andi Wang, spokeswoman for the Walt Disney Family Museum, according to USA Today.

FORMER DISNEYLAND EMPLOYEE CONVICTED OF POSSESSION OF DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE AFTER TWO EXPLOSIONS IN THEME PARK OF WATER BOTTLES CONTAINING DRY ICE

FULLERTON – A former employee of Disneyland was convicted and sentenced today for possessing a destructive device after two water bottles containing dry ice exploded in a Toontown trash bag and vending cart. Christian Isaiah Barnes, 23, Long Beach, pleaded guilty to a court offer to one misdemeanor count of possession of a destructive device. He was sentenced to 36 days in jail, three years informal probation, 100 hours of community service, and ordered to stay away from Disneyland.

At the time of the crime, Barnes was an employee at Disneyland in Anaheim.
