Do you remember this story – “A local family filed a lawsuit Monday against Disneyland over claims of racism. In August 2012, Annelia Black and her family took a trip to Disneyland to celebrate her nephew’s birthday. Upon entering the gate, the White Rabbit — a character from “Alice and Wonderland” — greeted the family,” according to ABC 10 News.

The lawsuit was quietly settled this past July, with nary a media peep, according to the OC Weekly. Black family lawyer Daniel Gilleon would only confirm the case was settled, citing a confidentiality agreement. Continue reading

Disneyland must pay $8K to disabled man who was trapped on “It’s a Small World”


“Jose Martinez won one for a lot of people today: A federal judge awarded the California man $8,000 in damages from Disneyland, after he had to sit in the “goodbye room”of the “It’s A Small World” ride for 30 minutes, while park officials repaired it,” according to NPR.

Martinez, who suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 16, became stuck on the ride on Nov. 27, 2009, and filed an official lawsuit in 2011. Another White Rabbit at Disneyland caught allegedly mistreating a family

New video obtained by 10News appears to show a Disneyland character — the White Rabbit — behaving badly by cursing and getting physical,” according to ABC 10News.

The video was shot on a phone by Manuel Carlos.  After one of his daughters “pulls on the tail of the White Rabbit, his other daughter, 14-year-old Jocelyn, also takes a turn.” Continue reading

Former Disneyland cast member says costumed cast members aren’t racist


“A man who played a Disneyland character for a decade is questioning several claims of racism made against characters at the popular attraction,” according to ABC 10 News, which broke the stories about two families who sued Disneyland in the past few weeks, after alleging that costumed Disney characters ignored their children – who are African American.

The former cast member, who played Pluto at Disneyland, told ABC 10 that he did not think that any cast members would act in such a manner, and that their actions may have been misunderstood.  He claimed that it is very hard to see and hear, when one is in costume. Continue reading
